Kevin Moore goes into tomorrow’s final round of the AIB Irish Amateur Championships with a two-shot lead over Scrabo’s Ryan Boal, following a two under 70 carded this afternoon.
Moore is the only player under par at –1, with Boal and Warrenpoint’s Barrie Trainor (+3) trailing him.
Down native Boal birded the thirteenth and par 5 fifteenth on the Maynooth, Co. Kildare course for a fine 72, equalled by Michael McGeady of the North West as the round of the day before Moore came in with a favourable back nine.
The Czech Republic’s Roman Svoboda posted a 74 to join six others on a tournament total of 148, five shots behind the leader.
Walker Cup team mates Noel Fox, the 2003 champion, of Portmarnock and Nigel Edwards both missed the cut by one stroke, finishing out of the top 44 qualifiers on +9.
Fox carded a poor 79, while Welshman Edwards could only go one better.
