Tiger Woods' fourth place finish in the Mercedes Championship in Hawaii last weekend has propelled him over the $40 million mark in career earnings.
"I love inflation," said Woods, who has captured 39 tournaments and eight majors.
By comparison Jack Nicklaus won $5.7 million in his storied career while Arnold Palmer earned $1.86 million.
Woods will not play in this week's Sony Open in Hawaii. He returns to the tour on February 9 for the San Diego Buick Invitational.
