Ireland win Home International trophy

Ireland won the Raymond Trophy at the Home Internationals at Ballybunion Golf Club yesterday. The Irish men secured the win with a halved match against Scotland to lift the trophy for the first time since 1991.

Mark Gannon, Irish team captain, paid tribute to his players after the result was confirmed: "This is a wonderful result for Ireland, all the players showed great team spirit and commitment, my congratulations to them all."

In the other tie, England were beaten by Wales and collect the wooden spoon finishing in last place.

Ireland 2 ½ Scotland 1½ Wales 1 England ½
