Former England amateur international David Lynn had an eight-birdie 65 in the second round of the Nissan Irish Open at Portmarnock to take over at the top from Thomas Bjorn.
He reached halfway on the 10 under par mark of 134 thanks to five birdies in sparkling inward 31.
Michael Campbell is in close pursuit, only a shot behind after a 69. The Kiwi only had one bogey in his round and the four birdies he hit leaves him well placed for another win in Ireland. Ireland's Peter Lawrie hit 68 to lie in a share of third place with Robert-Karlsson & Thomas Bjorn.
Paul McGinley showed some signs of getting back to his best at the Open last week and his second round 66 today leaves him well placed on four under. Padraig Harrington had a terrible round and his 76 means he will not be around for the weekend.
At one-over he just misses the cut. The pre-tournament favourite saw a chip up a bank on the 10th come back to him and he double-bogeyed. He then dropped another shot two holes later However Darren Clarke had birdies at 10 & 12 to set up a one-under par finish & so make it for the weekend.
