Gary Cullen carded a three-under-par 68 at Co Louth to lead the four Irish Region qualifiers into the pre-qualifying test next weekend for the Open Championship. Cullen stormed off with three birdies and added further birdies at the 6th and 17th holes with just one bogey, at the 5th, on his card.
Amateur Colm Moriarty posted a 71 for second place and after a play-off the other two automatic qualifiers are Danny Sugrue and Geoff Loughrey. The alternatives, again after a play-off, are Padraig Dooley, Stuart Paul, Justin Kehoe and John Sugrue.
