Kjeldsen wins at Gleneagles

Denmark's Soren Kjeldsen captured his first European tour title at Gleneagles on Sunday.

The 28-year-old, never caught after taking a five-shot lead into the final round, won by two strokes from Scot Alastair Forsyth after a closing 72 gave him a nine-under-par total of 279. It earned him £200,000.

Forsyth made a 12-foot birdie putt on the last to push England's Paul Broadhurst into third place. That was still the former Ryder Cup player's best finish since 1999, since when he has had to make two trips to the tour qualifying school.

Colin Montgomerie's two closing birdies were still good enough only for fourthplace.

Best of the Irish was Graeme McDowell who finished on three over. Philip Walton and Gary Murphy finished on nine over and ten over respectively.
