Sweden's Sophie Gustafson hit a course-record 10-under-par 63 today to open up a five-shot lead in the second round of the Irish Open at Killarney. The 29-year-old hit eight birdies and an eagle to reach a 17-under-par total of 129, lowering her personal best for two rounds by three shots. The Swede - aiming for her third Irish title - leads playing partner Laura Davies who had a second-round 68 to sit on 12 under, four clear of her nearest challengers. They are Denmark's defending champion Iben Tinning, Sweden's Marlene Hedblom, Virginie Auffret from France and England's Trish Johnson.
Gustafson began the day tied with Britain's Davies but soon took control to turn in 32. At the 13th, she added her second eagle in two days and at the last she recovered her composure to par after she had looked in danger of dropping a shot.
