Nick Price has been elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame, Commissioner Tim Finchem announced yesterday. Two-time PGA Tour Player of the Year, Price, was the only PGA Tour player on the ballot to be elected. He was chosen on 76% of the returned ballots and will be inducted on October 20 at World Golf Village.
“I am honoured to be elected into the World Golf Hall of Fame,” Price said in a statement. “To be in the same company as this elite group is a great privilege.”
Tom Kite fell short of election, receiving votes on 59% of the ballots, less than the 65% required. More than 80% of the PGA Tour ballots sent out were returned and nearly 70% of the international ballots were received before the deadline.
None of the international candidates were elected. Ayako Okamoto was chosen on 46% of the ballots. Fellow Japan native Isao Aoki was named on 45%.
