Hopes of an all-Irish final at the prestigious New South Wales Amateur Championship were dashed today when Justin Kehoe of Birr was beaten in his semi-final. The reigning World Universities Champion went down 4 and 3 in his 36 hole match against James Nitties of Australia.
The good news is that Athlone's Colm Moriarty is through to the final on Sunday after a convincing 5 and 3 victory against Matthew Holten of New Zealand.
Moriarty and Kehoe are hotly fancied to make the Walker Cup team this year.
