Cullen best of Irish in Emporda

Ireland's Gary Cullen was 1 off the pace after an excellent first round 8 under par 63 at theEuropean Tour Qualifying School in Emporda. Australian Brett Rumford led the way with a nine under par 62, while former European Amateur Champion Stephen Browne carded a 6 under par 65 and Philip Walton, began with a three under 68.

Also in Spain former Scottish amateur champion, Barry Hume, led after a seven under par 65 at Pals. Northern Ireland's Michael Hoey had a quadruple bogey eight on his very first hole, and finished with a five over 77.
