Gary Wolstenholme, already a four-times Walker Cup player, has been named in the squad of 24 players which will provide the majority of the team for next year's Walker Cup match. Great Britain and Ireland will be aiming for a third successive win at Ganton, North Yorkshire, having already won three of the last four contests.
Also in the list are Walker Cup players Jamie Elson and Nigel Edwards, who played alongside Wolstenholme in the team which won the cup for a first time on American soil at Sea Island, Georgia, last year.
Peter Benka, chairman of the Royal & Ancient selection committee, said: "We have selected a squad for next year's match and intend following the same preparation as before, meeting at Ganton in November and April. However I must stress there are still opportunities for players outside the squad to be selected if they have good performances over the next nine months."
