Hayes wins John Deere Classic

J.P. Hayes ended a four-year winless drought on the PGA Tour, posting a four-under-par 67 to win the John Deere Classic. Hayes, who won the 1998 Buick Classic, finished at 22-under-par 262, four shots ahead of third-round co-leader Robert Gamez (71) at 18-under.

Kirk Triplett (66) finished third at 17-under 267, while Pat Perez (66) finished fourth at 16-under 268. Briny Baird (70), Mike Heinen (71) and Chris Riley (70) tied for fifth at 15-under par 269. Defending champion David Gossett finished tied for 10th at 13-under 271.
