2003 Golf World Cup venue announced

Kiawah Island, where the United States pulled off a dramatic Ryder Cup triumph 11 years ago, will host the 2003 World Cup, according to a statement from the International Federation of PGA Tours.

A holiday resort off the coast of South Carolina, Kiawah Island last hosted the World Cup in 1997. The annual two-man event, part of the four-tournament world championships, will take place from next year from November 13-16.

The 2002 tournament takes place from December 10-15 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where South African duo Ernie Els and Retief Goosen will defend their title.

The world golf championships comprise the World Cup and three other, different-format events - the Accenture Match Play championship, the NEC Invitational and the American Express championship.
