Five players are tied for the lead after the opening round of the BC Open in New York. Shaun Micheel, Tripp Isenhour, David Morland IV, Joe Ogilvie and Paul Claxton - all without PGA Tour victories - all carded a seven-under-par 65 at the En-Joie Golf Club on day one of the event. Brian Wilson is alone in sixth spot one shot behind while there is a large group on five-under.
With the majority of the PGA Tour's top memebers in Muirfield for The Open championship, these lesser-known players have an ideal opportunity to snatch their maiden Tour win in their absence. Only Micheel and Ogilvie have top-five finishes to their credit while Morland has missed the cut in eight of his nine starts this year. First prize for this event is $378,000, with the total purse standing at $2.1million - the smallest on the PGA Tour.
