Mike Miller leads AIB Open by one shot

Mike Miller of Scotland stormed through the field to grab a one shot lead heading into the final round of the AIB Irish Seniors Open in County Limerick. The Scot added a second round 67 to his opening 70 for a seven-under total of 137 and one-shot lead over defending champion Seiji Ebihara of Japan and Irishman Joe McDermott.

"I am delighted with that. I didn't play much golf over the winter but I am hitting it well and avoiding the sort of disasters that cost me dear for most of last season", said Miller. Irishman, McDermott lost his card after a disappointing 2001 but gained a great deal of confidence after finishing sixth at the qualifying school in Portugal.

Another Irishman who moved right into contention was local favourite Christy O'Connor Junior, who fired a flawless 68 to move into a share of eight place alongside Northern Ireland's David Jones and England's Denis Durnian.
