Davis Love III has raced into a two shot lead at the Worldcom Classic title at Hilton Head Island. Love shot an opening round 62 nine under with Billy Andrade in second place on seven under. David Frost, Lee Janzen, Phil Mickleson and Billy Mayfair are all tied in third on six under after opening rounds of 65.
Love credits his good form to advice his brother gave him saying, " He felt like I was hunched over the putter a little bit, a little bit open, rather than stand up straight and arms hanging down and square. He always seems to find a way to get me putting when I'm not putting well because he's watched me so much. I hit a lot of good shots right out of the box and got stuck with my routine probably better than I have in a long time."
Australian Greg Norman and Angel Cabrera of Argentina each signed for 66s while John Daly played only 15 holes before pulling out with a wrist injury and defending champion Jose Coceres of Argentina shot a 69.
