Carl Pettersson leads the Algarve Portuguese Open in Faro where play has been suspended during round 2 due to bad weather. He was two under par for the day on hole six when play was halted and is six shots in the clear at eight under overall.
Pettersson had a four-shot cushion after the conclusion of the first round, which was carried over into this morning following a two-hour delay on Thursday due to the wind causing balls to move on the exposed greens near the Atlantic ocean.
The 24-year-old then continued to look as if he was playing a different course to everyone else with three birdies in the space of four holes at the start of his second round, before play was suspended for a second time today and eventually abandoned.
Scotland's Alastair Forsyth and England's Gary Evans lead the chase on two under with a pack of five, including Miguel Angel Martin and Greg Owen, on one under.
Ireland's trio of Des Smyth, Philip Walton and David Higgins were some of the few to complete their round's albeit not too successfully. Smyth shot a 74 to finish on five over while Higgins finished on ten over with Walton on fourteen over after a disastrous 83.
