After eight years as title sponsors of the Irish Open, Murphy's Irish Stout have announced that this June is to be their final tournament. Event managers Murray Consultants and the European tour say they are well advanced in securing a replacement and are confident they will be in a position to make an announcement in the near future.
The championship is at Fota Island, Cork, on June 27-30, with Colin Montgomerie defending the title he won by five shots from Ryder Cup team-mates Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke and Niclas Fasth on the same course last year.
