Tiger Woods has opened up a four shot lead after the second round of the Bay Hill Invitational tournament in Florida. The world number one carded a 65 which leaves him on 12 under par for the event, four ahead of nearest challenger Scott McCarron. South African Ernie Els is currently tied for third place with Angel Cabrera on seven under, with John Daly and John Huston one shot further back.
After the second round, Woods said he was happy with his performance, especially his putting. “Now I get on greens where I can hit the ball on the line at the right speed and they are not rolling all over the place. I just feel comfortable here in Florida. That’s where I live now and I play on these grasses. I’ve played well in the wind here and I just feel comfortable here,” he said.
McCarron, meanwhile, insisted that he’s still in with a good chance of winning the tournament, despite Woods’ lead. “It doesn’t matter whether it’s Tiger or Ernie Els or whatever. Four shots is four shots, but there’s still 36 holes of golf left, a lot of golf,” he said.
