Tiger Woods showed a return to form to share the lead after Round 1 in the Bay Hill Invitational in Florida. Woods shot a five-under-par 67 to share the lead with Angel Cabrera, John Daly, John Huston, Steve Flesch and D.A. Weibring. One shot behind the leading pack are Stewart Cink, Sergio Garcia, Rodney Pampling, Kaname Yokoo.
Woods is attempting to win this event for the third time running in turn ending a run of over seven months without a title, the NEC Invitational in August being his last success. Woods began the round well, securing birdies on four of the first six holes before slowing up on the back nine. He said: "It was nice to hit some good, solid putts. I hit the ball really well. When I made a mistake, my short game bailed me out."
Paul McGinley finished the round with a two-over 74.
