South African US Open champion Ernie Els leads the Genuity Championship in Miami by eight shots going into the final round after carding a six under par third round 66. Els lies on 17 under for the tournament, with Tiger Woods and Peter Lonard tied for second place on nine under.
Craig Parks, Vijay Singh, Justin Leonard and Rich Beem are all sharing fourth spot on seven under, with Jesper Parnevik, Steve Allan and Tommy Armour III one shot further behind.
Barring a monumental collapse, Els looks certain to capture his first title on US soil since 2000, and afterwards he said he has to be careful to keep his concentration in the final round. “You've got to go out there and play your game the way you have been, and just make absolutely sure you don't make any big mistakes,” he said.
