Toms and Perry take over

David Toms and Kenny Perry produced some superb shots to move to the top of the leaderboard in the Mercedes Championships in Kapalua, Hawaii. As first-round leader Mike Weir slipped up, Toms carded a seven-under-par 66 and Perry shot a 67 to tie for first place on 11-under-par at 135 at the end of the second round.

Weir equalled the course record with a 63 that included a 29 on the front nine but carded a one-over 74 today to drop to fourth, two shots off the lead. Three days ahead of his 26th birthday, PGA Player of the Year Tiger Woods was on four-under 142.
