Leonard in command in Texas

Justin Leonard carded a seven under par 64 to establish a three-shot lead after the second round of the Texas Open. Playing in his home State, Leonard had what he called an interesting day at the LaCantera Golf Course in San Antonia as he amassed 10 birdies and three bogeys. It was enough to leave him three shots clear of the field on 13 under par at the halfway stage.

Marco Dawson, who led the tournament after the first round, is currently tied on 10 under par with Carl Paulson. Sweden's Jesper Parnevik is tied for fourth with Jay Williamson and Tripp Isenhour on 9 under par, while Bob May and JJ Henry are one shot further back on 8 under.

Defending champion Leonard says he was pleased overall with his second round performance: "I had 15 great holes and three others, I played well the second nine."
