Alison Coffey is the sole Irish representative on the Great Britain &

Ireland team that will compete in the Vagliano Trophy women's amateur international match against the Continent of Europe at Circolo Golf, Venice, on July 27 and 28.

England provide seven of the nine players, with the only non-English players in the team, selected by the Ladies Golf Union, being Coffey and 18-year-old Becky Brewerton, the Welsh champion. There are no Scottish players named for the first time for many years, but Scottish champion Linzi Morton, conqueror of defending champion Rebecca Hudson in last week's British women's open amateur championship at Ladybank, is first reserve. The Continent of Europe team has won the past three Vagliano Trophy matches, played every two years.
