Torrance gets advice from Ferguson

Europe’s Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance has sought the advice of fellow Scot Alex Ferguson in order to maximise his team's chances of success in September. Torrance wrote to the Manchester United supremo seeking help and advice on getting the most out of his players in the 34th edition of the US/Europe clash, to take place at the Belfry from September 28th.

"It was fantastic," said Torrance, in an interview featured in The Independent today. "He told me some really interesting stuff about making a team a team, about making every player part of a team."

Torrance admits that the role at the helm of a Europe has become something of an obsession. "It has taken over every aspect of my life,” he says. “There is so much to do it is scary.” (Reuters)
