Pilkington and Karlsson shoot course record

Welsh golfer Mark Pilkington and Sweden's Robert Karlsson both shot a course record 63 to share the lead on the first day of the Qatar Masters. The early starters out on the course today took advantage of the good weather conditions to record low-scoring rounds. Players who teed off later in the day had a much stronger wind to contend with.

In second spot two shots behind the leaders is Frenchman Olivier Edmond. Best of the Irish is Ronan Rafferty who is in the club house on three under, one shot ahead of David Higgins. Eamonn Darcy, Des Smyth and Paul McGinley are all still out on the course.
