Kane finishes fifth to clinch card

Ireland's Ray Kane finished in fifth position after the final round of the European Seniors’ Qualifying School in Spain today to book his place on next season's European Tour. Kane shot a 2 over par74 to lie six shots off the leading score posted by American Jay Dolan III. The fine finish will entitle Kane entry into almost all events on next year’s Seniors Tour.

Northern Ireland's Kenny Stevenson, who finished in joint ninth place on 4 over after a 73 also secured one of only ten cards on offer after a play-off. Leonard Owens missed out on a prime card but will have access to a restricted number of tournaments after finishing in joint 17th place, following a round of 77 to finish 8 over.

Meanwhile, in the US Senior Tour School, Cork’s Denis O'Sullivan was a massive 18 shots behind the leader after his first round yesterday in Florida. O'Sullivan’s 8 over par 80 left him with a lot to do, and with only 16 cards available to the 110 man field, he would need a dramatic change in form if he is to secure his place on the Tour next year. He currently stands on 8 over after seven holes of the second round.

Elsewhere, at the main US Tour's Final Qualifying School in California, Richie Coughlan is going well, while Sean Quinlivan finds himself outside the top 100 after carding a 2 over par 74.
