Flesch leads PGA event with Tiger Woods in pursuit

Steve Flesch played some of the best golf of his career yesterday while Tiger Woods failed to approach his best form, but the two will be paired for today's third round of the $3 million National Car Rental Classic at Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Flesch managed seven birdies in a flawless 65 to equal the 36-hole tournament record of 16-under-par 128 established by Tim Simpson in 1990 and grab the lead after two rounds. But Flesch failed to shake Tiger off his tail as Woods managed a second-round 67 despite some uncharacteristically inconsistent play by the world number one.
