Golf: Mediate captures Buick title on last green

Rocco Mediate captured the PGA Buick Classic title by one stroke from Chris Perry, the long time leader, with a dramatic turn of events on the final hole. Mediate who never led outright until the final stroke of the tournament birdied the final hole to record a six-under-par 66 in his final round to finish at 20-under with a total of 268.

After Mediate sunk his 12-foot putt, fellow American Chris Perry pushed his eight-foot par putt left of the hole to finish with a bogey and lose the title by the narrowest of margins.

Hal Sutton was three strokes back in third, with Phil Mickelson and Woody Austin sharing fourth at 273 one stroke ahead of five others including Japan's Joe Ozaki.
