US golfer Lauren Roberts won the $2.5 million Greater Milwaukee Open with the lowest score over 72 holes in the event's 32 year history. He shot a five under par 66 for a four round total of, a 24 under par, 260. This represents just three shots off the US PGA record of 257 set by Mike Souchak in 1955.
It was the seventh career title for Roberts, a former Ryder Cup player, who is one eight players who competed in Milwaukee, that will also compete in this weeks British Open at St Andrews, starting on Thursday. Roberts blistered the 6,759 yard course, turning a two shot lead at the beginning of the day into a procession, beating compatriot Franklin Langham by a massive eight shots.
