Dublin overhauled a seven-point half-time deficit to dispatch Westmeath, while Kildare and Offaly also progressed in this evening's Leinster U20 quarter-final encounters.

Damien Gavin's Westmeath outfit made a stunning start in the capital, building a 0-09 to 0-02 lead after 21 minutes.

While the Dubs rallied with a trio of points, temporary substitute Peter Pierson restored the seven-point gap with a goal on the stroke of half-time.

It appeared bleak for the hosts but Ryan O'Dwyer's palmed goal three minutes after the restart turned the tide, the visitors registering just one point for the remainder of the contest.

Jim Lehane's team gradually reeled in the Midlanders, O'Dwyer nudging them in front with 10 minutes remaining and they kicked on from there, eventually winning by five on a scoreline of 1-15 to 1-10.

In Hawkfield, Kildare edged an entertaining encounter against, holding off Laois in a high-scoring second half.

Dean O'Donoghue and Daniel Lynam grabbed early goals as the hosts established a six-point lead, subsequently stretched out to nine by the 20 minute mark.

Rioghan Murphy and Davin McEvoy hit back with two goals in a minute however to dramatically revive Laois's chances.

Kildare settled themselves to establish a four point lead (2-09 to 2-05) at the break, pushing their advantage out to eight points in a dominant third quarter.

Shaun Fitzpatrick's goal set up a nervy finale for Kildare as Eddie Kinsella's side rallied but they held out to record a 2-16 to 3-11 victory.

It was a one-sided affair in Faithful Fields as Offaly, reigning All-Ireland champions at the grade, hammered Carlow on a 4-13 to 0-06 scoreline, Keith O'Neill, Darragh Flynn, John Furlong and Eoin Murphy rattling home goals.
