Division 2A
Kildare 0-15 Meath 0-18
Westmeath 3-15 Kerry 1-15
Down 2-10 Carlow 1-12
Meath managed a victory against an understrength Kildare at Newbridge.
The Lilywhites were without their Naas contingent of 12 players following their victory in the All-Ireland intermediate final yesterday.
And it told as the Royals raced into an eight-point lead at the break. Jack Regan top scored for them with 12 points. The free taking of David Qualter brought Kildare back into it in the second half, but Meath were able to withstand the fightback to take the points.
At Ballycran a late Marc Fisher goal helped Down to the slenderest of victories against Carlow.
The Mourne Men also led by a point at the break after their first goal by Osin Mc Manus and that was still the gap as the game entered the last five minutes of normal time.
Carlow then moved ahead when John Michael Nolan found the net, but Fisher would have the final say.
