Longford 0-05 Dublin 0-16

Dublin reached the O'Byrne Cup final after a routine win over Longford, with Kildare and Laois to meet in the semi-final of the competition on Wednesday next.

Dessie Farrell went with five of the side that started last season's All-Ireland semi-final against Mayo for the Glennon Brothers Pearse Park clash, with James McCarthy seeing his first action of the year.

The likes of Seán Bugler and Tom Lahiff were also introduced from the bench as the Dubs reverted to a more familiar look as the game went on.

For Ciarán Archer, who made his senior bow after impressing for the U20s, it was a decent showing as he knocked over two points. Ciarán Kilkenny contributed 0-04 to the Dubs' cause on a day where 11 of their players got on the scoresheet to round out a 0-16 to 0-05 victory.

The downside for the victors was the leg injury picked up by Paddy Small after 24 minutes.

Louth 0-15 Offaly 2-16

Elsewhere in Group A, Offaly had seven points to spare against Louth in Ardee.

Both teams left the number 23 free as a mark of respect to Ashling Murphy, who was tragically murdered in Tullamore last Wednesday. There was also a pause in play in the 23rd minute.

Second-half goals from Leonard Grey and Ryan Burns had given the Wee County momentum after Offaly led by two points at the break.

Niall McNamee and Ruairí McNamee both contributed 0-04 as the Faithful regained the initiative and were deserved winners at the end.

Laois 2-14 Wicklow 1-11

Laois topped Group A after a 2-14 to 1-11 win over Wicklow in Crettyard. It's a second win on the bounce for new boss Billy Sheehan. Sean Moore and Evan O'Carroll got the vital goals for the winners late on in the second half in a contest that was evently contested up until then.

Meath 1-15 Wexford 1-10

In Ashbourne, Meath's 1-15 to 1-10 win over Wexford denied the Model County a semi-final berth. A Jordan Morris goal helped the Royals to a one-point lead at the break.

Andy McEntee's were never headed thereafter, with points from James Conlon (2), Cathal Hickey and Donal Keogan the perfect response after a Ben Brosnan goal had given Wexford hope.
