Galway's Ailish O’Reilly insists that her side will have to be at their very best if they’re to emerge triumphant from Sunday’s All-Ireland senior camogie final.
The Tribeswomen take on Cork at Croke Park is what looks like being a very evenly contested match.
Cork, who dominated the camogie scene for much of the last decade, are looking to claim their first All-Ireland title since 2018, while Galway are looking to make up for the disappointment of losing last season’s final to Kilkenny.
O’Reilly admits that Galway have not always been at their best this season, and she knows that anything other than their best performance will see Cork walk away with the O’Duffy Cup
"I think it’s been and up and down year," she said. "We’ve had good games and we’ve had bad, but there’s lots of improvement needed from our semi-final if we’re going to go on and beat Cork.
"They’re an absolutely serious team, serious players and they haven’t won it in a couple of years so I know they’ll be gunning for us.
"We played them in the league and they took us to extra-time so as I said they’re an unbelievable outfit, they’re fit and they have their gameplan down.
"I don’t think anything will change come Sunday and I think we know from their reaction after the semi-final, they’re back where they want to be and we have to be ready."
Asked to pinpoint just where Galways can improve, O’Reilly replied: "We have to recycle the ball a little bit more and just get the ball to the player in a better position.
"If we win if 0-05 to 0-04 on Sunday, we’re not going to be worried about it.
It’s just about fixing the nitty-gritty things and we’ll need a bit of luck as well. Hopefully it falls our way."
