Ryan McMenamin has stepped down as manager of the Fermanagh senior football squad after two years at the helm.

After serving as as assistant manager under Rory Gallagher for two seasons - a period that saw the Ernesiders reach the Ulster final in 2018 - McMenamin made the step up ahead of the 2020 season. However, his time in charge was impacted somewhat by Covid-19, with preparations for last year's crucial Division 2 league game against Clare clearly affected.

They made the drop to Division 3 and lost in the Ulster championship to Down.

This year Fermanagh lost out to Offaly in their quest for an instant promotion in the league, before Monaghan proved too good in the provincial quarter-final.

The Fermanagh county board released a statement confirming McMenamin's departure.

"We have been notified last night by Ryan McMenamin that he is stepping down from the position of Fermanagh senior football team manager.

""Fermanagh County Committee would like to thank Ryan and his entire backroom team for all their hard work and commitment over the last two years.

"We wish Ryan and all members of his backroom team every success for the future."
