Minister of State for Sport, the Gaeltacht and Defence Jack Chambers has confirmed significant attendance increases for a number of sporting events.
And it's understood that further consideration will be given to increased attendances at upcoming fixtures over the next two months.
This evening's latest developments will see the Munster Senior Hurling Championship final host a crowd of 7,000 on 18 July for the clash of Limerick and Tipperary at the 45,000-capacity Páirc Uí Chaoimh arena.
Meanwhile, Minister Chambers also confirmed that 18,000 will attend the Leinster SHC final on 17 July between Dublin and Kilkenny at Croke Park and the following day’s Leinster SFC semi-final double header.
Attendances have been slowly increasing in the past few weeks.
Last weekend, 2,400 attended the provincial senior hurling semi-final between Limerick and Cork in Thurles, while 3,000 made their way into the Clare and Tipperary game in the LIT Gaelic Grounds for the other semi.
A crowd of 8,000 attended the Leinster SHC semi-final double bill at HQ a day earlier.
The 18,000 attendance at Croke Park will be the biggest crowd at an Irish sporting fixture so far this year.
A crowd of 6,000 will be allowed to attend Bohemians upcoming UEFA Conference League clash v Stjarnan in mid-July, while 1,500 can attend Shamrock Rovers UEFA Champions League tie with Slovan Bratislava on 13 July.
