Conal Keaney has announced his retirement from inter-county duty with the Dublin hurlers.

The 38-year-old was part of the Dublin panel which won the Leinster SHC title in 2013, having previously been involved in five provincial triumphs with the footballers between 2004 and 2010.

He also won a National Hurling League medal in 2011 after scoring three points as they beat Kilkenny in the decider.

Confirming his retirement on social media, Keaney tweeted: "Thanks for a great 20 years @dublingaa. It was a great journey but the time has come."

Reacting to his announcement, Dublin GAA said: "Conal Keaney has announced his retirement from inter-county hurling this morning.

"An incredible career over two decades in the blue jersey. Thanks for everything, Conal."
