All-Ireland hurling champions Limerick will begin their title defence against Cork in a Munster SHC semi-final.

The draws for both the 2021 Munster hurling and football championships were made on RTÉ's Morning Ireland and have thrown up some intriguing ties.

In hurling, Clare will be seeking revenge against Waterford for their nine-point loss to the Deise in last year’s All-Ireland quarter-finals when they meet in this year’s provincial quarter-final.

Tipperary await the winner of that tie, with Cork and Limerick to battle it out on the other side for a place in the decider.

Opening-round losers will get a second opportunity to progress through the qualifiers, while times, dates and venues are yet to be confirmed.

2021 Munster SHC

Quarter-final: Clare v Waterford

Semi-finals: Limerick v Cork, Tipperary v Clare/Waterford

In the football draw, Munster champions Tipperary will begin their title defence against Kerry or Clare after this morning's open draw.

Traditional Munster rivals Cork and Kerry were drawn on opposite sides of this year's provincial championship.

Kerry, whose All-Ireland ambitions were derailed dramatically by the Rebels last year, will take on the Banner at the quarter-finals stage, with Tipperary, defending a first provincial title for the first time since 1936, awaiting the winners.

On the other side of the draw, Ronan McCarthy's Cork await the winners of Waterford and Limerick for a place in the decider.
