Brendan Cummins believes that Waterford will be wary of taking too many short puckouts in Sunday's All-Ireland hurling final.
In the semi-final, Limerick pushed up on Galway and repeatedly picked off goalkeeper Éanna Murphy's short restarts.
Cummins thinks that while the intention wasn't necessarily wrong the execution was, and he doesn't believe O'Keeffe is overly comfortable going short either.
"His swing isn't that natural to go short," the five-time All-Star keeper told the RTÉ GAA podcast of the Waterford netminder.
"The hurl he's using, the bás on it is very big and it's hard to control when you're trying to hit the ball 30, 40 yards.
"Galway got suckered into it (going short) a small bit.
"In fairness to him (Murphy), it was the only execution of the pass that was wrong. The pass was on.
"It was the right thing to do, it was just executed, on the day, poorly, and that can happen when you're a young goalie in Croke Park and you're told by your management 'We're going to play through our 45 to 65 the majority of the time'.
"That puts fair pressure on you.
"I think Liam Cahill will go long on 70% of it and he'll say 'We'll pick up the pieces when it goes long'."
Cummins also believes that Waterford's half-backs Calum Lyons and Kevin Moran should track Tom Morrissey and Gearóid Hegarty's deep runs into their own half.
"We know that their half-forwards are going to sit back.
"I think Kevin Moran will probably follow Tom Morrissey around the pitch like he did in the Munster final. He quenched him.
"The Limerick half-forwards, Hegarty and Morrissey are normally marked by nobody. They sit back between the half-back line and half-forward line and most wing-backs won't follow them.
"But if you have Tadhg de Burca playing at 6 as a sweeper, you can follow them down the field.
"I think Calum Lyons will follow Hegarty because if you hold and he gets free possession, he can hit it 80 or 90 yards. It goes over the sweeper and you're dead. So you might as well be killed trying.
"I think Waterford learned that against Kilkenny. Let's engage them and turn Limerick over in their half of the pitch, what they're trying to do to us. Don't give them handy ball to get into the game.
"If they do that and take that freedom of play, that will be the key part of it."
