Roscommon were outgunned by Wicklow at Dr Hyde Park in their Christy Ring opener, as the visitors came away from Dr Hyde Park with a 2-19 to 3-14 win.

Wicklow built up a commanding lead in the first half, going in at the break 2-11 to 0-04 up having had the benefit of a strong wind. A brace of goals from Christy Moorehouse did a lot of the damage, but the Rossies rallied on the turnaround as Cathal Dolan nabbed two goals of his own.

Eamon Flanagan's free found the net to leave just two points between them but Wicklow found the scores to just about hold off their hosts and leave with the victory.

Offaly were unable to field a team for their clash with Kildare after Faithful County officials confirmed on Thursday their concession of the game, saying they regretted that it would not be possible to fulfil the fixture as the HSE has deemed almost every member of their senior hurling panel as a 'close contact' after training with a player who tested positive for Covid-19.

Sligo were also forced to concede their game against Derry due to Covid-19. The Sligo county board released a statement on Friday saying they had a positive test in the camp, meaning they could not field a team.
