David Clifford had a rollercoaster of an evening, scoring a critical goal before being sent off in an off the ball incident as East Kerry survived a scare against St Kieran's to progress to the semi-finals of the Kerry SFC.
The defending champions rustled up two late points through David Clifford and Paudie Clifford to scrape home on a 2-13 to 1-14 score. The former was sent off right at the death and will now miss the semi-final.
Elsewhere in Kerry, St Brendan's Board comfortably overcame Killarney Legion, winning 2-17 to 1-09 in the end.
A huge third quarter, which saw St Jude's score 1-05 without reply, helped the Templeogue men past Skerries Harps in the Dublin SFC at Parnell Park.
The sides were level at the break but, with the help of county start Kevin McManamon's goal, the 2018 finalists booked their spot in the semi-finals on a 1-17 to 1-10 scoreline.
In the day's other last-eight clash, Kilmacud Crokes were 4-15 to 1-12 victors over St Vincent's.
Staying on the east coast, Diarmuid Barry's early major set St Martin's on their way to a two-point victory over Starlights in Wexford.
In the later game, hurling champions Shelmaliers will not claim the double after being pipped 1-13 to 2-09 by Castletown.
Two goals from Darren McHale sealed a surprise win for Knockmore over three-in-a-row chasing Ballintubber in Mayo.
McHale's second strike in the 50th minute gave the underdogs a crucial four-point lead in the quarter-final clash and they closed it out 2-11 to 0-12.

In this evening's other MacHale Park quarter-final, Breaffy overcame a four-point half-time deficit to run out handsome winners against 14-man Ballaghaderreen.
After conceding a glut of early goals, the victors triumphed 3-09 to 0-01 in the second half against a side who had star-man Cian Hanley sent off midway through the first period.

Elsewhere, Mohill became the first side into the Leitrim SFC semi-finals after thumping Allen Gaels by 3-16 to 2-09 at Avantcard Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada.
Leitrim forward Keith Beirne hit 2-07, both of his goals coming in the first half as Mohill built an unassailable 3-08 to 0-03 interval lead.
Caleb Duffy netted twice for Allen Gaels during the second period.
Fenagh St Caillins joined Mohill in the last four later on Saturday evening after thanks to a 2-14 to 1-08 win over Leitrim Gaels.
There was a humdinger in Cavan as three-in-a-row chasing Castlerahan survived a titanic battle to pip Lavey by a point after extra-time. Ronan Flanagan's goal in the second half of extra-time proved the critical score as the reigning champions eked out a 3-13 to 0-21 point win.
In Galway, Moycullen breezed past 2018 county runners-up Mountbellew-Moylough, powering home four goals to win by 14 points, 4-14 to 1-09 the final scoreline.
Elsewhere, St James' had too much for the All-Ireland intermediate champions Oughterard, winning 3-16 to 1--14.
Up the road, Aaron Tierney and Ruairí Corrigan struck for early goals as Kinawley beat Erne Gaels to advance to the semi-finals in Fermanagh.
In Westmeath, Athlone - last champions in 1998 - progressed with to the semi-finals with a four point victory over Rosemount, while St Loman's, the dominant force in the county in the modern era, accounted for the challenge of Killucan, winning out 3-10 to 2-08.
Two goals from Enda Smith were crucial as Boyle came from behind to beat St Croan's 4-08 to 0-12 and advance to the semi-finals of the Roscommon SFC.
In the Sligo SFC, five-in-a-row chasing Tourlestrane unsurprisingly rolled over the challenge of Coolera/Strandhill, cantering to a 1-14 to 0-05 win at the finish.
In this evening's other group game, Coolaney/Mullinabreena edged out Geevagh by two points at the Sligo GAA Centre of Excellence.
Maghery had five points to spare over Pearse Óg in this evening's only game in the Armagh SFC.

In Tipperary, goals either side of half-time set Kiladangan up for an eight-point victory over Toomevara.
Dan O'Meara scored the first in the dying seconds of the opening half to leave five between the sides at the break. A Willie Connors major killed Tommevara's mention shortly after the restart.
When the third three-pointer arrived from Joe Gallagher just over five minutes later, the lead was seven, and the north-Tipp club weren't to be denied from there.
In the later game, Jake Morris rattled home 3-04 as Nenagh overwhelmed Thurles Sarsfields in the early stages, never truly relinquishing their advantage.
Thurles, so dominant for most of the past decade, found themselves 3-07 to 0-01 at one point and while they rallied somewhat, they still slumped to a 10-point defeat.
Nenagh could afford seventeen wides but still progress to the semi-finals.
Across the border, TJ Reid hit 1-16 as defending champions Ballyhale Shamrocks started their Kilkenny campaign with a comprehensive victory over Rower-Inistioge at UPMC Nowlan Park.
Brian Cody, Eoin Cody, and Colin Fennelly got the other goals in a 38-point triumph.
An unanswered 2-06 in the first half extra time helped Mullinavat past Danesfort by 5-27 to 1-25.
A strong finish saw Killimordaly past Mullagh in the preliminary quarter-final of the Galway SHC, the 1986 champions not letting the concession of a goal in the final quarter blow them off course.
Elsewhere in the west, two-time All-Ireland winners Sarsfields rustled up four goals to dispatch Ardrahan 4-17 to 0-19.
Tonight's Cork Premier SHC saw a spate of one-sided games, with the notable exception of Erin's Own and Newtownshandrum who couldn't be separated at the final whistle.
Glen Rovers marched on with a 2-21 to 0-12 trouncing of Na Piarsaigh. All three of the Cork city aristocrats has easy wins. St Finbarr's - on the end of a televised hammering at the hands of the Glen recently - administered a heavy beating of their own against Carrigtwohill, winning 3-25 to 0-10.
Blackrock hit four goals to have nine points to spare against Bishopstown while Sarsfields demolished Ballyhea at Mournehappy, racking up 2-30 in the process.
In Offaly, in a battle of recent All-Ireland finalists, Kilcormac-Killoughey squeezed past Coolderry by a solitary point, winning 1-23 to 1-22.
A couple of goals meant Belmont had rather more to spare Shinrone, triumphing by seven in the end.
