Longford's Killoe Emmet Óg are facing a 48-week suspension from all adult GAA activity, after the club lost last night's appeal to the Leinster Council against the original sanction of a fine.
The decision has the potential to cause a further hold-up to the Longford Senior Football Championship, with Killoe now considering taking their case to the Disputes Resolution Authority.
The fine was imposed as a result of Killoe not fielding a team in an Under-16 encounter against St Colmcille's/St Francis last January.
The club are reported to have contacted the county board prior to the game stating that they would not be fulfilling the fixture due to an outstanding issue that had not been dealt with.
