Limerick continued their good pre-season form as they picked up a hard-fought Allianz Football League Division 4 win in Waterford despite ending the game with 13 men.

Adrian Enright goalled for the Treaty men in the first half and the sides were tied at 1-3 to 0-06 at the break.

Limerick were three points ahead, 1-09 to 0-09,  when Paul Maher walked for two yellows in the 57th minute. Robert Childs then saw red in the closing minutes after being booked twice but Limerick defended excellently to see it out and take the win.

Carlow edged a tight game with Wicklow at Netwatch Cullen Park that was nip and tuck throughout.

The hosts led 0-05 to 0-03 after a cagey first half, and though Wicklow always kept it interesting they never got to within closer than two points of their opponents.

Carlow go to Wexford next week, Wicklow are at home to Waterford.
