Padraic Mannion has been confirmed as Galway's new hurling captain for the 2020 campaign.
Mannion takes over from David Burke, who took on the role at the start of 2016. Kinvara man Conor Whelan has been appointed vice captain.
The 26-year-old Mannion won back-to-back All Stars in 2017 and 2018, when was also nominated for the Hurler of the Year award. Limerick's Cian Lynch pipped him to the honour.
The Ahascragh-Fohenagh defender will now look to drive the county to another Liam MacCarthy after a disappointing 2019 that saw them fail to emerge from the round-robin series in Leinster, a thrilling loss to the Dublin sealing their fate.
Shane O'Neill began his reign as Tribesman manager with a 0-19 to 0-18 Walsh Cup semi-final defeat of the Dubs at Parnell Park last Sunday. They'll face Wexford in the decider this weekend.
