Con O'Callaghan will have a further medical evaluation today on his shoulder and an update on the extent of  injury suffered last week on college duty is not expected until later this week.

There have been fears that the Cuala man may could miss the start of Dublin’s league campaign after picking up the injury during UCD’s warm-up before their Sigerson Cup clash against UUJ.

UCD progressed to the quarter-finals in his absence with a 0-13 to 0-11 extra-time victory, but the college say that while O’Callaghan was positive afterwards regarding the severity of the injury, there has been no confirmation yet as to how long he will be sidelined for.

On Saturday UCD host Queens University Belfast in the last eight of the Sigerson Cup, while seven days later the Allianz League begins, with Dessie Farrell’s first competitive game in charge of the All-Ireland champions  at home to Kerry.
