Longford saw off Carlow in the O'Byrne Cup second round as Dessie Reynolds' goal helped them to a 1-13 to 0-09 win over Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.
The home side race into a 0-06 to 0-01 lead.
Carlow finally got to grip with the game but a point from Reynolds opened up a 0-08 to 0-04 advantage at the break.
Reynolds found the net in 51st minute and the result was never in doubt, with Daragh Doherty hitting the final score of the game with a minute remaining.
