New Kildare football manager Jack O'Connor has been given a major winter boost after Daniel Flynn rejoined the panel following a stint in the USA.

Forward Flynn opted out of the set-up last December as he completed his Masters at Maynooth University before heading to the States.

Niall Kelly, who also went traveling around this time last year, is back too, with O'Connor buoyed by a healthy looking Lilywhites squad.

"Daniel Flynn is back as is Niall Kelly," he told the Leinster Leader.

"Johnny Byrne is back with us. Paul Cribbin is back training, but not making full contact yet as he is still getting over that shoulder injury from this season, but in general we have the vast majority of the players we want and are interested in.

Kerryman O'Connor took the reins in August, succeeding Cian O'Neill, who stepped down after four seasons.

O'Connor has his first competitive game in charge on Saturday. Longford come to Newbridge in the Bord na Mona O'Byrne Cup.
