Clonmel Commercials 0-09 St Joseph's Miltown 0-07
Clonmel Commercials left it late after a four-point blitz snatched victory over hosts St Joseph's Miltown to advance to the Munster Club Football final in Hennessy Memorial Park.
Having led throughout, the back-to-back Clare winners appeared set for a second successive provincial decider coming down the final straight, only to be lowered by a Kennedy surge as brothers Jack (2) and Conal along with All-Ireland Hurling winner Seamus produced a dramatic turnaround for Commercials.
The strong wind that blew towards Spanish Point allowed Miltown to dictate matters in the opening period, with points from Oisin Looney and Conor Cleary inside 90 seconds setting the early pace.
Clonmel settled through Kevin Fahey and Michael Quinlivan, only for the Kelly (Gordon and Graham) and Cleary brothers (Conor and Eoin) to raid for four of the last five points as the home side took a 0-06 to 0-03 advantage into the break.
It didn't initially seem enough of a gap considering the strengths of the conditions.
But with no score in the third quarter, St Joseph's Miltown's belief incrementally grew with every passing minute, especially when a brace of Jason Lonergan frees were solaced by a like score for Conor Cleary at 0-07 to 0-05 by the 55th minute.
Commercials stubbornly refused to accept their perceived fate however, with midfield siblings Conal and Jack Kennedy finally reeling in their hosts by the 57th minute before hitting the front in the next passage of play when Conal teed up wing-back Seamus Kennedy to dissect the posts from 40 metres.
It would be the first time that Clonmel led but it couldn't have come at a more opportune time as despite six minutes of additional time, the only score would be a Jack Kennedy insurance point to cement a Munster final showdown with Cork's Nemo Rangers, a repeat of the 2015 decider.
