The Tyrone senior footballers are set to be without the services of Mattie Donnelly for up to six months, after he picked up an injury that will rule him out of their National League campaign.

Donnelly suffered a serious hamstring injury while on club duty for Trillick St Macartan's in their recent Ulster club quarter-final clash with Derrygonnelly.

A scan revealed the severity of the damage done and speaking to the Irish News, Donnelly confirmed that one of the tendons from his hamstring had become detached.

The Tyrone skipper appears will undergo surgery to repair the damage today and will hope to be back in time to feature in his county's championship campaign.
