Michael Duignan has put his name forward for the position of Offaly GAA chairperson.
The two-time All-Ireland hurling winner and RTÉ pundit will contest the position against outgoing chief Tommy Byrne at next month's county convention.
Duignan, along with other prominent Offfaly GAA personalities, including Brian Whelehan and Brian Gavin are understood to be part of a group vying for leading positions at the upcoming convention.
The collective are keen to take the Faithful in a new direction with the fortunes of the county's footballers and hurlers having slipped in recent seasons. The senior hurling side will play in Division 2A of the league and the Christy Ring Cup in 2020.
